roots
I grew up in Venezuela and am instinctively attracted to Latin colors, rhythms, folklore, and religious imagery.
Involvement in the civil rights and anti-war movements of the 60’s has given me a deep sense of social and political responsibility and a desire to use my work, more and more frequently, as a soap box.
I like to travel and am stimulated by new colors and images, and the extent of the world’s diversity.
My educational and professional background is in philosophy, education and environmental design. I have experimented in photography and printmaking, as well as a variety of fiber art media.
I’m intrigued with the myths surrounding crows, and I’ve been a birdwatcher for decades.
I learn continually from my family and friends, and from many artists, visual and literary, living and not, whose work influences mine, both intentionally and inadvertently.
I am influenced by the prairies, forests and mountains of the western landscape.
